CPS Summer Programs

We have gathered enrichment and review experiences that will keep your student learning throughout the summer. All programs are FREE to our CPS families.

Kids Read Now (KRN)

For our kindergarten, first, and second grade students, sign-ups have already occurred and you should already be receiving books for our Kids Read Now summer reading program. If you have any questions about this program, feel free to reach out to the Curriculum Office at 517.541.5107.  

GRASP (Grand Rapids Academic Summer Programs)

GRASP is a summer correspondence program designed to review material from the year the student just completed. The GRASP program has been around for a while and is a great way to review content from the previous year to ensure that students are ready for the upcoming school year. If you are interested in this type of academic support for your student over the summer, sign up with the link below. 8th Graders Only: CHS ELA and SS Summer Enrichment 

During this 6 week summer enrichment, current and future CHS students will engage in timeless social issues (empathy, injustice, ethical leadership, reliability of sources) using both English and social studies content to explore past and present texts. Our expert teachers will guide students through the process of using reading strategies to investigate these relevant social issues. A variety of texts will be used to develop critical reading skills that will be applicable and beneficial in all high school classes for students in their future endeavors. 

Start Date: Monday, June 8th

End Date: Friday, June 17th

Time Commitment: ~ 5 Hours per week (6 Weeks total)

Charlotte High School

Current Sophomores and Juniors: SAT Summer Refresher

In order to best equip students with the material they need for the SAT, we are offering a free 6-week SAT Skill Refresher course. This course is designed to engage students in structured SAT activities in the areas of reading, writing and grammar, essay development, and math in effort to build their confidence and refresh their skills following this extended window of time without face-to-face classroom instruction.  

Start Date: Monday, June 8th

End Date: Friday, July 17th

Time Commitment: ~ 5 Hours per week (6 Weeks total)
