Field trips

Join us for our Friday Field Trip series.   Cost will include bus travel and admission to each location.  Open to  children and adults alike.  A Chaperon will be provided if you want to just send the kids.   Parents wanting to register for trips will need a current background check on file with the district.  New background checks will be needed starting July 1st.   Advance registration is required.  Please register online or call (517) 541-5740.

TreeRunner Grand Rapids  $45

A picture of three boys wearing climbing gear.Friday, June 21st.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 am  and return at 3:30 pm.  Join us on our field trip to TreeRunner Grand Rapids.  Participants will get to zip line and climb through the tree paths while wearing a secure harness.  Participants must be at least 7 years old and all participants must have a signed waiver on file with TreeRunner.   You can add a pool party to this trip to make a 5:00 pick up.

Friday, June 28th.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return at 3:30 pm.  Join us on our trip to Craig’s Cruisers in Grand Rapids for a day of fun!  There is 3 hours of  unlimited  putt-put golf, go carts, trampolines, bumper boats, and rides as part of the admission.  The buffet is included in this trip as well.  The arcade is the only thing not included.  Participants would need money for the arcade if they wish to play games.   This trip is for children 7 and up.   

Hawk Island Park  $20

Friday, July 5th.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return at 5:00 pm.    Join us on our field trip to Hawk Island for a day spent at the beach, splash pad, and playground.  We will have a hot dog roast for lunch and enjoy all the park has to offer.  Participants will need to bring a swim suit, towel, beach toys if desired, and sturdy shoes for playing on the playground.   We will have our own lifeguards with us. 

John Ball Zoo  $35

Friday, July 12th.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return at 5:00 pm.   Join us for our trip to John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids.  Participants will spend the day walking through the zoo.  Price includes admission to the zoo, transportation, tram ride and bird feeding.   Participants will need to bring a sack lunch and dress comfortably for the weather. 

Full Blast Waterpark $25

Friday, July 19th.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 10:00 am and return at 5:00 pm.  Join us on our field trip to Full Blast in Battle Creek.  This waterpark is all shallow water  and we will have our own lifeguards with us.  Participants will spend the day at the water park enjoying the pool and the slides.  There is a concession stand for those that want to take advantage; it is fine to bring a sack lunch and snacks.  Participants will need to bring  a swim suit and towel, puddle jumper or life jacket if needed, sunscreen, and googles if desired. 

Lake Odessa Public Beach, Park, and Dairy Queen  $20

Friday, July 26th.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return at 5:00 pm.  Join us on our field trip to Lake Odessa’s public beach and park.  We will start at the park and play for awhile.  We have a pavilion rented there and will have a hot dog roast for lunch.  After lunch we will enjoy time on the beach and playing in the water.  Once we are done there we will walk to Dairy Queen and get ice cream (included in price of admission).  Participants will need to wear comfortable clothing for the weather, solid shoes for the playground, a suit and towel for swimming and life jacket / puddle jumper if necessary.  We will have our own lifeguards with us on this trip. 

Barton Lake Jellystone, Indiana   $30

Friday, July 13st.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 and return at 5:00 pm.  Join us on our field trip to Barton Lake Jellystone in Freemont Indiana.  We will spend the day camping!  There is so much to do at Jellystone—the kids can swim, play on the playgrounds, jump on the bouncing pillows, ride the slides, putt-putt golf, play on the beach and so much more.  We will have a hot dog roast for lunch and use pizza irons over the campfire for dinner.  Snacks will also be included.  Participants will need to bring a bag with a change of clothes, suit and towel, solid shoes, and sunscreen.   We will have our own lifeguards on this trip.

FunTyme Adventure Place and Mooville  $25

Friday, August 2nd.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:30 am and return at 3:30 pm.  Join us for our field trip to FunTyme in Grand Ledge and Mooville in Nashville. Participants will get to putt-putt golf and do go carts.  They will have some money to spend in the arcade as well.  We will eat sack lunches when we are done at FunTyme then head to Mooville where we will get to see and pet the animals, do a tour, and play on the playground have ice cream.   A pool party can be added to this trip to make pick up 5:00pm.   

Holland State Park  $20

Friday, August 9th.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 8:30 am and return at 5:00 pm.   Join us on our field trip on Friday, August 9th as we spend a beautiful day at the beach at Holland State Park.  We will provide a picnic lunch and transportation, you bring your beach toys, suit, towel, and sunscreen.  We are bound to have a beautiful and fun day.   We will have our own lifeguard on this trip. 

Walnut Hills Campground  $45

Friday, August 16th.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return at 5:30 pm.   Join us for an amazing day at Walnut Hills Campground.  Participants will begin their day tubing down the Shiawassee River.  We will do a 30 minute float from one side of the campground to the other.   From there we will go to the campground and play on the playground until lunch.  We will provide a hot dog roast lunch and then play on their enormous Wibit.  All participants will be required to wear a lifejacket and sign a waiver. Participants should bring a suit and towels and sturdy shoes.  We will have our own lifeguards on this trip.

Michigan's Adventure $45

Friday, August 23rd.  Depart from the Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return at 10:00 pm. Join us on our field trip to Michigan’s Adventure.  We will leave the Charlotte Aquatic Center at 9:00 am to arrive for the 11:00 opening.  We will stay the day.  You will have access to both the amusement park and water park.  We will leave at the close of the park at 8:00 pm and arrive back at the CAC at 10:00 pm.  This trip is designed to bring our high school and middle school kids.  Total cost for the trip is $45.  Students will need money or card for food.  Michigan’s Adventure is cashless, but you can convert cash to card in the park.

Oriole triple p passport 

Join us for summer fun with our weekly Triple P (Picnic, Playground, Pool) Passport.   Lunch will be provided to all children every day.  Participants can play outside on the playground, swim for 90 minutes, do arts and crafts, and play games.  We have alternate indoor space for inclement weather.  Get the kids outside and playing this summer.

Join us for springboard diving lessons.  Lessons will take place at the Aquatic Center and include both dryland time and water time.  Participants should wear shorts and t-shirt and bring a suit and towel.  Participants must be at least 7 years old and able to swim to the side from the diving board.

Stroke Clinics for Competitive Swimming $30

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Evenings 5:30 - 6:30 pm

These clinics are designed to teach and improve the competitive strokes.   Participants will focus solely on one stroke per week.  Minimum requirement to participate is to be able to swim 25 yards continuously.  This course is taught by our Varsity Swimming Coach in our main pool at the Aquatic Center. 

Freestyle Clinic:  June 17th, 18th, 19th    5:30 - 6:30 pm

Backstroke Clinic: June 24th, 25th, 26th  5:30 - 6:30 pm

This class is geared to children 10 years and up that can swim 25 yards continuously.  No prior experience is needed, this class will teach you how to play the game of water polo.  Please bring suit, towel, water bottle, and gym shoes as we will play in the gym to learn the game as well.  The class will end with a water polo game.  

Tumbling Lessons  $50 per session

Daily Monday - Thursday  10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

 Ages 5 and up.

Join several varsity cheerleaders and the varsity coach to learn to flip and tumble.  Please dress comfortably and bring a water bottle.  

Soccer Camp: $45 

Soccer camp will be held at the CHS soccer field.

Sessions run daily Monday - Thursday.  These classes are held in our main pool.  Level 1 will be in the shallow pool or lane 1 with the bench.  Level 2 will be in the regular shallow end.  Levels 3 - 5 will be held in our deeper water.

Learn to Dive Class   $55

Kids ages 7 and up, and all levels are welcome.  If you like to swim and go off the board, diving lessons are for you!  The only requirement is to be able to swim to the side from the diving board.   We begin our class in our dryland facility.  We have two diving boards we use on mats and a trampoline.   Each session will end with a diving meet to show off their new skills. Classes meet daily Monday—Thursday from 9:00—10:30.

Players are asked to observe tennis/pickleball court courtesies as well as rules of good conduct on and around courts.  This includes avoiding the use of profane/lewd language in appropriate for a school setting.

Whenever there are players waiting, all players must vacate courts after playing for one half (1/2) hour (up to 2 hours for reservations) or one set.  Winners shall have no prior rights to remain on the courts.

Charlotte Public Schools shall have priority use for school or school-sponsored activities.

No individual, group, club or organization shall occupy tennis courts for tournament play without written permission from Charlotte Public Schools.  Application must be made at least fourteen (14) days in advance of requested dates set for start of play.  Approval is subject to the District's facility use policy.
