Tiger Sharks

Anyone is able to join the Tiger Shark swim club.  We welcome CPS students, homeschoolers, and other area district students.  There is no residency requirement for Tiger Sharks.  

Summer Tiger Shark Information Guide

Session Dates:

May 26th - July 30th

Practice is Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Swimmers that can swim at least 25 meters on their back and front. We will practice two times per week for an hour and a half.  Practice will be like an intense swimming lesson.  The goal of our program for our youngest sharks is to be able to compete all four strokes 25 yards legally.

Summer Field Trips

This summer the Charlotte Aquatic Center will host Friday field trips.  All trips will be from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm to provide a whole day of care for your child.  The price of registration will cover admission, lunch, transportation and chaperone.  Parents are welcome to come with us, but will need a current background check on file with the district to ride the bus.  


Henry Ford Museum

Join Oriole Recreation for a trip to the Henry Ford Museum.  There is so much to see and experience at the Henry Ford Museum.  Step back in time with us as we explore and learn together.   We will leave the Charlotte Aquatic Center at 9:00 a.m. and return back at 5:00 pm.  This is an indoor trip so no worries about the weather.   This trip will cost $25 per person attending.

Join Oriole Recreation for a trip to both Sea Life Aquarium and Lego Land and the Great Lakes Crossing Mall.  Lego Land is an incredible hands on building experience that boys and girls of all ages will love.  Sea Life Aquarium is an absolute sight to behold.   Come and explore and learn with us.  We will leave the Charlotte Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return back at 5:00 pm.  This is an indoor trip so no worries about the weather, dress for a day of walking.  This trip will cost $30 per person attending.  The registration fee will cover the cost of admission to both locations, lunch, transportation, and chaperones.  

Craig's Cruisers

Join Oriole Recreation on a fun filled day in Grand Rapids at Craig's Cruisers.  Ride go-carts, play glow golf, jump in the trampoline park, ride the zip line, play laser tag and many other attractions.  Come and play with us.  We will leave the Charlotte Aquatic Center at 9:00 am and return back at 5:00 pm.  There are indoor and outdoor attractions, please dress appropriately for the weather.  This trip will cost $50 and includes the all you can eat buffet.  The price of registration includes admission, lunch, chaperone, and transportation.  It does not include money for the arcade, so that would need to be brought separately if desired.  

Jordan Lake and Dairy Queen

Join Oriole Recreation on a trip to Lake Odessa.  We will begin by playing at the playground in town and have a hot dog roast lunch.  We will spend the afternoon swimming in Jordan Lake in the swimming area shown above.  We will have lifeguards on this trip.  We do have puddle jumpers or lifejackets that can be borrowed for the trip if needed.  Spend a day at the lake with us.  This trip costs $25 per person.  Registration covers the cost of lifeguards, chaperones, lunch, and at the end we will go to Dairy Queen for ice cream.

Join Oriole Recreation on a trip to Full Blast Waterpark in Battle Creek.  We will take our own lifeguard on this trip.  The water is shallow, most kids can touch everywhere.  We also can take lifejackets or puddle jumpers from the pool for those not able to touch.  Registration includes admission, transportation, lunch, snacks, and chaperones.  Ages 5 and up are welcomed on this trip.  Join in on the fun. 

John Ball Zoo

Join Oriole Recreation on a trip to the John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids.  We will spend the day exploring the zoo and seeing all kinds of animals.   Registration includes admission, transportation, sack lunch, and chaperone.  It will also include a ride on the funicular and  Please send $10 spending money with your child for ice cream or another treat.  Please make sure to dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.  

Private lessons

Pre-Registration is required for all programming unless noted otherwise. Please call (517) 541-5740 to set up private lessons.  Once you call us, we will have our instructor text you to set up a mutually beneficial time.  We would love to help you or your athlete grow.

Single Training Session:  $25 for 30 minutes
Five Training Sessions:  $100 for five 30 minute sessions

Private swimming lessons are done by our seasoned swimming lesson instructors and Tiger Shark coaches.  Private swimming lessons are $25 for each 30 minute session.   Private swimming lessons will be held in the main pool for students 5 years old through adults.  The therapy pool will be used for students 6 months through 5 years old.

Tennis / Pickleball

Private tennis / pickleball lessons are done by our Varsity tennis coach.  Private  lessons are $25 for each 30 minute session.  These tennis / pickleball lessons will be held on our Charlotte High School tennis courts.  We have tennis rackets and pickleball paddles that you can use if you need to borrow one.  Please wear tennis shoes and dress comfortably for the weather.  Please bring a water bottle.

Golf

Private golf lessons are done by our Varsity golf coach.  Private lessons are $25  for each 30 minute session.  These golf lessons will be held at Maple Brook golf course, or another mutually agreed on course.  There may also be green fees depending on location.  We do have golf clubs that you can use if you need to borrow them while in the lesson.  Please dress appropriately for the course and weather.  Please bring a water bottle.

Strength and flexibility

Private Training is done by our Varsity Football Coach and his staff.  Private lessons are $25 for each 30 minute session.  These training sessions will be held at the Charlotte High School weight room and gymnasium.  Please wear comfortable workout clothing and wear gym appropriate shoes.  Please bring a water bottle with you.

Speed and Agility

Speed and Agility private training sessions are available all summer long.  Our varsity football coach and his staff will be designing and carrying out lessons built to make you stronger and ready for all sports.   Building muscle and agility will help to grow our athletes and keep them safe.  Training sessions are $25 for 30 minutes of training.  These sessions will be held at our Charlotte High School site.  Exact location depends on your goals.  Please dress for a workout and wear appropriate shoes for a outdoor track/gym floor.  Please bring a water bottle.

Tennis lessons are held at the Charlotte High School Tennis courts.   Middle School and CUE students will meet at the flagpole to walk to the courts together.  If there is a rainy day, lessons will be  held in the Charlotte Middle School in the cafeteria.  Please pick the kids up from door 1 on the Upper Elementary side at the conclusion of their lesson.

Babysitting class will take place at Central Office.  Participants will learn about caring for children of all ages from birth on.  All participants will learn the basics of how to provide care for someone that is choking and the basics of CPR and rescue breathing but will not get certified in those skills.   Participants will walk to Weymouth Child Development Center for hands on experience and practice.  This is not a Red Cross course.

Join us right after school for a Swim In Movie picked just for Middle and High School students.  There will be concessions available for purchase for $2 each.  We have some rafts to use, you are also welcome to bring your own.

Friday, July 17th


Chicago Day Trip Friday, July 17th. Come join us on a fun filled day to Chicago. We provide the transportation on a comfortable charter bus with a bathroom. You get to plan and spend the day your way.  All children must be accompanied by a parent and there are NO chaperones provided for this trip.  The bus will leave the Charlotte Aquatic Center at 8AM. The bus will return to the Aquatic Center around 10:30PM. Drop off and pick up are all at Navy Pier.  This trip does need to meet a minimum passenger capacity in order to run. Join us for drop in volleyball every Tuesday and Thursday at Charlotte Middle School.  We play in the main gym from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.  The cost is $5 per night or purchase a $40 punch card with 10 punches on it.   No registration is necessary, come and play!

Triple P passport

Triple P

Our Triple P Passport is our afternoon playground and pool time for children ages 5 - 13 years old.  Participants arrive at 12:00 pm and stay until 5:00 pm.  Lunch will be provided daily at Meet Up and Eat Up in the CMS cafeteria.  The cost is $50 for a week and this year we are adding a daily drop in.  Feel free to bring the kids for any single day for $15, no registration necessary for the daily drop in, just show up.   Please have participants dress for outdoor play and bring a suit and towel for swimming.  We have indoor facilities for inclement weather days.  Registration is open online or call our office at 517.541.5740 for more information.

No food, glass, tobacco or alcoholic beverages.

Remove all personal items and trash upon exiting.

No bicycles, roller blades, or skateboards.

Proper footwear required (heelless rubber-soled shoes).

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Do not abuse/damage net, court surface, fencing, or other equipment.

Courts are under video surveillance.

Players are asked to observe tennis/pickleball court courtesies as well as rules of good conduct on and around courts.  This includes avoiding the use of profane/lewd language in appropriate for a school setting.

Whenever there are players waiting, all players must vacate courts after playing for one half (1/2) hour (up to 2 hours for reservations) or one set.  Winners shall have no prior rights to remain on the courts.

Charlotte Public Schools shall have priority use for school or school-sponsored activities.

No individual, group, club or organization shall occupy tennis courts for tournament play without written permission from Charlotte Public Schools.  Application must be made at least fourteen (14) days in advance of requested dates set for start of play.  Approval is subject to the District's facility use policy.
