Enrollment Instructions
Step 1 - Gather Required Documents
- Certified Birth Certificate
- Parent/Guardian ID (Copy of any court order establishing the right of custody if registering adult is not listed on the birth certificate)
- Current Immunization (shot) Record
- 2 Proofs of Residency (Driver’s License, Voter Registration, Property Tax Statement, Mortgage/Home Closing/Lease Documents, Utility Bill)
- Special Education Services Documentation if applicable
- Hearing and Vision Screening & Dental Oral Assessment (first year students only)
- Other documents/forms may be required prior to enrollment

NOTE: To provide the best transition for your child into Charlotte Public Schools, please allow at least two (2) school days for your child to be placed after all enrollment paperwork has been received.
Early Elementary Enrollment: Young Fives – Kindergarten
Galewood Early Elementary provides a warm, nurturing environment where our youngest Orioles explore, play, and build foundational skills, making it a premier early childhood education destination in Eaton County. Through joyful experiences, strong connections, and an individualized approach, students begin their educational journey in a space that reflects Galewood’s promise: “Our Roots Start Here.”
Key Dates:
- Kindergarten Eligibility for 2025-2026 Your child is eligible for kindergarten if they turn five on or before September 1, 2025. Children who turn five between September 2 and December 1 may also enroll, following State Law.

Washington and Parkview Elementary
At Washington Elementary and Parkview Elementary, Orioles in grades 1–3 learn through creativity, independence, and problem-solving. Each school fosters curiosity and confidence, helping students build lifelong skills and a love of learning.

School Placement Information
Placement in Parkview or Washington Elementary is determined by transportation boundaries:
- Students north of Carlisle Highway and west of Lansing Road attend Washington Elementary.
- Students on/south of Carlisle Highway and east of Lansing Road attend Parkview Elementary.
- Families near boundaries should contact Transportation: 517.543.3400 for verification.

Charlotte Upper Elementary: Grades 4-6
At Charlotte Upper Elementary, students are given the freedom to learn, grow, and play in the learning process, with staff guiding and adapting based on each learner’s strengths, needs, and curiosity. From Robotics and Salmon in the Classroom to Kindness Club and Student Council, students develop academically and socially in a supportive, engaging environment.
