Charlotte Idol and Charlotte Idol Jr Winners Announced

Eleven acts showcased a variety of talents from acting, comedic storytelling, to vocals

Charlotte Idol winnersThe Charlotte Performing Arts Center hosted its Charlotte Idol competition on Saturday, May 21, returning to the auditorium after having an outdoor event in 2020.  The evening was narrated by emcee Curtis Scott, and judged by local musicians Alisa Miller and Clint Dickerson, and CPS Choir Director Zach Everly.  Eleven acts showcased a variety of talents from acting, comedic storytelling, to vocals.

After the approximately 90 minute program, the winners were announced.  Taking the title of 2022 Charlotte Idol Jr was Lorelai Hatch.  Lorelai is 9 years old, and was a participant in the 2020 Charlotte Idol Jr competition.  She first graced the stage as a dancer with Step ‘N Time Dance Studio at age 4.  She loves all things creative - imagining new ideas, dancing and singing her way through each day.  Lorelai performed the song “Dandelions” by Ruth B.

The winner of 2022 Charlotte Idol was Lydia Fletcher who performed “On My Own” by Ross Lynch, accompanying herself on guitar.  Lydia Fletcher is a junior at Charlotte High School, where she plays quads in the Marching Band, percussion in the Symphony Band, sings in Choir, and runs on the Cross Country and Track teams. In her free time she hangs out with friends, paints, runs, plays guitar, as well as piano and flute. She plans on going to school for music education.

Both winners received a trophy and will have an opportunity to be the opening act for a future CPAC performance next season.  CPAC is excited to have them both return and showcase more of their talents.
