Bond Construction Update
Our CPS bond projects are making great progress, please be sure to observe the progress from a safe distance
Now that the summer weather is here, the CPS bond projects are making immense progress! Our additions at Galewood and Washington are up, the CHS Aux gym is visibly taking shape, parking lots are being repaved, and there are improvements all around our district! We encourage you to drive around and see the construction in action, but please be mindful of our safety expectations for the public. We take the safety of our staff, customers, and contractors very seriously and violating any of these expectations could lead to injury, delay of projects or OSHA violations. Be aware of our signage, fencing, and notification in the active construction zones, where heavy machinery is being utilized but could cause injury. We welcome the interest in our progress, but we want everyone to be safe!
While the construction is exciting and impressive, we do know that it can cause an inconvenience for families, especially with the work being done in the parking lots at Charlotte Upper Elementary, Charlotte Middle School, and the Aquatic Center. Below are APPROXIMATE (weather dependent) dates to be aware of, or look for signage in the areas.
July 1st - The entrance off of Carlisle will be CLOSED. Vehicles will need to use the CPAC State St access road and park in the HS parking lot or there will be limited parking at the North end of the MS parking lot.
June 29th - July 12: Vehicles will be able to park in the MS (East) parking lot. The CAC/CUE (West) parking lot will be closed.
July 14th - MS (East) parking lot is closed for striping/painting
July 13 - July 15: Traffic shift at entrance off of Carlisle Hwy with reduced parking available in CAC/CUE parking lot. We recommend that all staff/visitors park in the HS parking lot.
July 15 - July 18: Traffic shift at entrance off of Carlisle. The CAC/CUE parking lot will be closed. Vehicles can park in the HS parking lot or MS parking lot and access the Aquatic Center via the sidewalk that runs behind the building (North)
July 27 - July 31: CUE/CMS playground and back (North) path/sidewalk will be closed.
Thank you for your patience as we work through these projects, knowing everything is subject to change due to delays and weather. We look forward to future ribbon cutting events and celebrations as these projects are completed!
