The CHS Drama department takes the stage again on March 17 & 18, 2023 with its Spring Play, Harvey.  Elwood P. Dowd insists on including his friend Harvey in all of his sister Veta’s social gatherings. Trouble is, Harvey is an imaginary six-and-a-half-foot-tall rabbit. To avoid future embarrassment for her family—and especially for her daughter, Myrtle Mae—Veta decides to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium. At the sanitarium, a frantic Veta explains to the staff that her years of living with Elwood’s hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also, and so the doctors mistakenly commit her instead of her mild-mannered brother. The truth comes out, however; Veta is freed, and the search is on for Elwood, who eventually arrives at the sanitarium of his own volition, looking for Harvey. But it seems that Elwood and his invisible companion have had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors. Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn’t so bad after all. Advance tickets are $10 Adult, and $8 Student/Senior (62+).  All seats are $12 at the door.  Seating is reserved.

Our final professional show of the season features vocalist Ryan DeHues with guest Marla Moore performing songs from the Great American Songbook on Saturday, May 6, 2023.  DeHues’ voice is one of a kind – a voice you cannot and will not ignore, and one you will want to hear again and again.  DeHues and Moore are two of today’s new breed of great singers who give the old music new style with a modern flair and dynamic delivery.  DeHues puts modal groove versions of Sublime into his act, right next to a Sinatra standard, followed by a gem resurrected from the back pages of Susanne Vega.  He is the epitome of suave yet exciting new artists that are giving new meaning to The Great American Songbook and classic songs of yesterday. Tickets are $20.00 Adult, $17.00 Student/Senior (62+).  Seating is reserved.  Tickets will go on sale September 12!
