Letter to the Community 10.20.26
Charlotte Public School Community,
We are excited to announce that we have solidified the Charlotte Education Association collective bargaining agreement through 2028! Reaching this agreement took time, challenging conversations, and patience to hear each other's viewpoints to come to a mutual understanding. Throughout this process, despite any differences, we all upheld our CPS Mission “Nurturing and providing excellent education and opportunities with respect and purpose to students, staff, and the community we serve.”
We have a shared sense of optimism in reaching this agreement as we have a path to moveforward focusing on the success of our students and the community we serve. Highlights of this agreement include:
● Largest pay raise in years
● Increase in the hourly rate for work outside contractual duties
● Increased sick day pay outs
● Additional schedule B opportunities
● Board supported increases in employee benefits across the district
● Expanded opportunities for appeal including areas of arbitration
Thank you to staff, students, and the community for our partnership throughout this process. We are grateful for the opportunity to move beyond negotiations and refocus our collective energy on our shared goals. Together, we can continue building a stronger future for Charlotte Public Schools. Our kids. Our community. Our future.
Go Orioles! Oriole Pride!
